In addition to heightening our 
sensual involvement with an artwork, visual textures also have many practical compositional uses. By creating specific areas of increased visual interest, textures can slow the movement of the viewer's eye. This allows the artist to control the visual flow, create rhythmic movement or focus more attention on certain areas of the composition. How are visual textures used in the following examples?
